I don’t think so. Who’s going to run it? That kind of thing takes an enormous amount of work, and it’s not something we can expect of Xing and the team.
Besides, the silly little teenybrats will try to hijack it for their rule-breaking One Direction and Taylor Swift garbage. You really want to encourage them?
Awards – whether it’s the Oscars, the Emmys, the Booker Prize, or even the Nobel Prize for Literature – tend to just be a lot of self-aggrandizing wankery. Let’s just enjoy writing and sharing our stories, and not make a competition out of it.

The majority of “contests” I’ve seen it isn’t the best stuff that wins but the most popular, the most popular being stuff where the characters are OoC, canon is defiled and other issues.

…Uh…have you ever noticed how many categories there are?
You must have a great deal of spare time on your hands if you really believe that you (plus one loyal fan) could handle the workload.
Remember, you’d have to publicise it (without spamming the boards or creating non-story entries, either of which would breach the conditions of the site), read all the nominated stories (in full) to ensure none of them violated the site guidelines (because you can’t give an award to a story on ffnet if it’s not supposed to be there in the first place), have some system in place to collate the votes, make sure the results were accurately counted and cross-checked (and this is for thousands of categories, so it’s going to take a long time), find some way to detect and disallow sock-puppet votes, and finally find some means of publishing the results, again without spamming or posting non-story entries.
What’s your strategy for dealing with all of that?

There are a couple awards groups floating around this site. They generally use C2s to log their nominees. Like fems said though, an independent website works much better. FP and FF have pretty limited tools for something like this.

Maybe you could organize it elsewhere, like other fanfiction award organizations do for their fandoms. It’s not something that should be organized by or on FFnet itself, aside from all the issues and requirements needed as mentioned by other people since FFnet is a website where one can post/share and read their fanfictions. So, if you want to do this then I suggest you create your own website to do so and stick to the fandoms you’re familiar with.

Suggest you download an independent adblock program if the ads are that much of a problem for you. The site subsists on the ad revenue, so it is detrimental to them to provide a means for you to block their only source of income.
You can also tweak your browser settings so it does not load flash and requires you click to enable those items on a page requiring flash compatibility.

Okay. I don’t have one of these phones, but from what I’m finding, the suggestions are centering around using Opera mini instead of a mobile browser, as it will consume less resources and allow the site to load more quickly.
Again, I have to emphasize that I don’t have one of these phones, so I don’t know specifically any way to boost its connection speed.

I first tried for the movie pitch perfect and with the characters Aubrey and Beca and romance as the category. But I also tried pretty little liars, Kim possible, and skins. Every time I tried to filter anything I got an error message that said the link didn’t exist.

Yesterday and again today, I have tried uploading a new chapter to my only story. Once the upload reached 100% on doc manager, the page would refresh and show me the message:

So I have this problem for Fanfiction under Fushigiboshi No Futago Hime. I’m a major writer for it, but there aren’t any drop lists for characters. Is it because there aren’t enough people reading it or something else. It’s starting to get to me. If you can, please insert a character select.

I’m having problems loging in to add authors to follow on the mobile site, end up with an oops page saying the page is unavailable after clicking login. I’m using Opera Mobile 10 on Windows Mobile.
I have to say I hate the auto redirect to the mobile page, especially when I type the address manually for http://www.fanfiction.net rather than m.fanfiction.net. When I do this I want the full page, not the mobile site.
One thing that I think the Mobile site needs is the complete/in progress tag in the search page and story page. This is included on the main site but not the mobile site. It gets annoying having to do a specific search for complete or in progress stories on the mobile search page. I would like to be able to run a search for both types in the same search and be able to tell at a glance whether a story is complete or not. This is actually the only reason I don’t exclusively use the mobile site on my phone.

That’s a browser setting you need to change. You’ll have to change your User Agent from “Tablet” to “Desktop”. As far as I know it works in Opera Mobile but not Opera Mini.

Mobile view is already set to off, there are no other options to change which could do it. I’m using a HTC HD2 mobile phone, not a tablet.

4) What *precisely* is the error? (If you know how to take screenshots, those help)

Still no charts for me in Firefox, not even an indication that a flash object is there, such as the Flash right-click menu. Just a blank spot with “Loading chart. Please wait” in it. I’m using a recent Firefox and recent Flash that work fine with Youtube, as well as worked fine with ff.net 48 hours ago. No amount of cache-clearing or restarting seems to make any difference.

Firefox 19. Charts fail for me in IE8 as well. On XP. I don’t think it has anything to do with the browser or the flash. I’m accessing the full site. I get failures on several other pages of a similar nature: under “manage stories”, only some of my cover images show up. If I hit refresh, some of the covers that didn’t show up will appear, and some of the ones that were already there will *disappear* to be replaced by the silohuette. At any given time, only a random subset of the covers is displayed. On many of the pages that end in “.php”, when I first click to go to the page, it comes up completely blank, and stays that way for a minute or more until I hit refresh. Then it comes in, but sometimes not totally, until a third refresh is hit. So I think it’s a network issue with my access of the full site. It just seemed to coincide with this latest update, though I guess it could be my ISP. As far as the charts go, I think they’re not being served to me at all, for some reason; it’s not like the browser couldn’t display them if it could find them.

So I used to have my favorite categories in feedly.com so I easily could be updated with new stories in that category. Unfortunately all my feeds stopped updating after you guys added the new filter system, which is awesome by the way. So my question is, will rss feeds be added again in the future?

I can load everything else on FF except my profile. Usually, whenever I click on my username in the top right, I get a “No Data Received” page, but all I have to do is reload it and it works. Now it won’t move off this page, no matter how many times I reload. I’m using Google Chrome, if that helps at all.

Let me reiterate my “manage stories” issue, because I think it’s the same problem as the charts. I have 11 stories, all with cover images. No amount of refreshing, no initial window size, no amount of scrolling, no amount of waiting ever gets me all 11 cover images at one time.Most of the time, I get only 6. It’s a random 6, not the same every time. The other 5 are the silohuettes that you get when no cover has been specified. I think that my browser could display the charts, if it could get them, but it seems like it’s failing to retrieve the chart in “story stats” just like it’s failing to get the cover images in “manage stories”. In addition, I had to hit “refresh” 3 times just to get story stats to appear, even minus the charts. Could just be a network slowdown, but its been going on for the past 2 days.

Wasn’t sure where to post this: The filter drop down menus will not work on Kindle Fire. You press it and you see the outline of a red box, but there’s no options, no drop down, and they are not aligned with the category they are for. After half an hour I was able to select the rating but that was all.

All these updates are nice, but…are we *ever* getting Atom feeds back? It’s been quite a while, with no word. I used to follow a bunch of TV show fanfic feeds and now that’s downright impossible. I really miss being able to read stories easily, and find myself visiting the site less and less, which is not something I want to do. There are some incredible stories here but if you make it hard for busy readers to find them…

I can not load into my profile. it keep telling me my connection is reset. I am using Firefox right at the moment but have try loading it from both Google Chrome and IE and it shows no data. I am log in right at the moment but it wont let me even log out. also try resetting all my cookies and setting and none have work. are you guys updating for a third time have half the site is down? or is it just me? this is day two that I can not still sign in either.
